The Aston Martin DB6, produced between 1965 and 1970 under the direction of David Brown, is the successor to the legendary DB5, made famous by its appearance in the film Goldfinger. The DB6 is distinguished by its Superleggera structure, developed by the Italian coachbuilder Touring, offering a light yet robust chassis. Compared with the DB5, it benefits from a number of improvements: hydraulic power steering, air conditioning, a longer wheelbase, and a redesigned rear end for more aerodynamic styling.
Tinting for perfect color
Restoring this rare British model required great precision, not least to recover the original “metallic grey” hue. We began by measuring the hue using a spectrometer, to define the exact color code. This meticulous work is the key to faithfully reproducing the original hue and guaranteeing perfect harmony throughout the vehicle.
Once the color had been identified, we carried out various paint tests on the brake pads. This was a long and tedious process, as the angles of the metal grains in this paint gave a specific rendering. After several modifications, we finally found the right shade and paint for a perfect result!

Paint and finish
With the tint validated, we proceeded to paint several strategic areas of the vehicle, while respecting the customer’s wish to retain some of the original patina. Only a few areas were repainted: the rear quarter panel, the front fender and the front fascia. The side section was then varnished in two coats, followed by the rear and front wing. A meticulous polish was applied to achieve an impeccable finish, in keeping with our high quality standards.

Final result: a prestigious restoration
The result of this restoration on the Aston Martin DB6 Superleggera lives up to the customer’s expectations. The tint is harmonized across the entire body, with no visible difference between repainted and retained areas. The finishing work reflects the expertise of our workshop, guaranteeing this exceptional model a second youth while respecting its authenticity.
