We were delighted to welcome this magnificent E-type Jaguar to our classic car restoration workshop. This car had already been partially restored 20 years ago by its owner.
The time had come to restore this British icon and give it a new lease of life.

Presented at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show, the 1962 Series 1 was one of the first versions of this legendary model. Designed by Malcolm Sayer, this car was a masterpiece of automotive aerodynamics at the time. Its distinctive features include retractable headlights, a long sloping bonnet and an emblematic radiator grille.
Restoring the car step by step
The body of the E-Type was completely stripped bare for restoration. Under the bonnet, the Jaguar E-Type Series 1 is powered by an XK6 in-line six-cylinder engine.
Dismantling
We began by dismantling the accessories: the body panels, the bonnet and then the windows. The rear running gear was also completely removed and reconditioned by our partner.
Bodywork
The entire body was stripped down to the sheet metal. The bonnet was also completely dismantled, as previous repairs had been poorly carried out. Restoring the bonnet took the longest, due to the complexity of its assembly and the number of parts it contains.
The rear boot floor was cut out, removed and replaced with a new one, along with an intermediate floor element.
For visual harmony, all the car’s lines and fits were rectified.
Paint
An epoxy primer was applied to the entire body and body components to protect against corrosion. This second primer is one of a series of ‘undercoats’ designed to provide an insulating and anchoring layer between the sheet metal and the paint. They also help to level out any remaining defects in the bodywork.
The magnificent original ‘Gunmetal Grey’ colour was applied. The paint was covered with two coats of varnish to enhance the extraordinary curves of the bodywork.
Finishes
The bodywork was polished to give it a smooth, shiny finish.
All the parts were reassembled. All the bodywork gaskets were replaced with new ones.
The JAGUAR E-Type Series 1, an iconic sports car
The Jaguar E-Type, also known as the Jaguar E-Type, is one of the most iconic sports cars ever produced. It became an icon of the motor industry, widely celebrated for its revolutionary design and exceptional performance, and was produced until 1975. Its influence is still felt in the automotive world today. The 1962 Series 1 is particularly prized by collectors because of its rarity and historical importance in the history of the automobile.
