Restorations not always happy…
Our Atelier CVDC team had the pleasure of laying eyes (and hands!) on this superb Austin Healey 3000 Mk 3.
This beautiful Briton has toured the planet, since it comes to us directly from the United States, where it has undergone numerous approximate restorations…
During the last restoration to date, no less than 14 coats of paint were observed on the bodywork of the car!
Complete disassembly and sandblasting
In order to restore the Austin Healey correctly, it was therefore necessary to completely dismantle the car.
Once this step is completed, the hull and chassis are sandblasted. The chassis being too damaged, due to a previous shock, a rough repair, multiple deformations, we decided to replace it with a new one in agreement with our client.
Replacement of parts with new
Other bodywork elements such as the trunk or the fenders, which also underwent summary repairs and a lot of thick putty, were also replaced by new ones.
Nevertheless, the forward part of the hull is in fair condition. It is unsoldered from the chassis, remanufactured in our workshop then re-welded on the new chassis.
The rear part of the hull is in less good condition… the rear seat bases having been redone in resin previously will be replaced as well as the wheel arches, rear trunk bottom, interior fender panels.
