Restoration of the 1968 Mercedes 280 SL Cabriolet
The owner of this car bought it in the United States. Its blue body color and brown leather interior give this Mercedes convertible an incredible charm. However, for its restoration, the owner chose to have it repainted green!
After a partial disassembly to estimate the restoration work, we discovered that the corrosion had done a lot of damage. The floor and underbody were badly damaged. We had to strip and corroded elements before applying an epoxy anti-corrosion treatment. We also carried out a partial airbrushing of the floor.
Some irrecoverable body parts had to be redone. This is the case for the side sills, which have been completely remanufactured, as originally, by the bodybuilders of the workshop. Changing the side sills is a delicate operation on a convertible, because it is a car without structure.
