The Windsor model was emblematic for the Chrysler brand in the 40s and 50s, accounting for more than half of all sales! The Chrysler Windsor II is almost identical to the first-generation model produced between 1939 and 1942, which was discontinued in favor of war production. Only the grille and a few options were changed in the new post-war model.
Hood repair
The Chrysler Windsor is one of the jewels of the American automobile, witness to the glory of the industry of the 1940s and 1950s. The model entrusted to us is a 1949 Chrysler Windsor, the year of the brand’s 25th anniversary. builder!
After the bonnet was lifted following an accident, it had to be completely reformed. A tough challenge when you know that this type of part has become impossible to find on the market!

Straightening and sheet metal work
The CVDC workshop took care of straightening the lower bay of the windscreen, also affected during the incident, inside the engine compartment.
This was followed by the work on the bonnet, with first a straightening of the part. Little by little, the sheet regains its shape, not without difficulty, after sheet metal work such as heating for removal of planing, straightening, rasping, tinning, etc.
We also had to work on the adjustment of the car, the compasses used to open the bonnet being also deformed.

Paint: recreate an unobtainable shade!
The preparation operations before painting then followed one another until the application.
Here again, a new challenge for Atelier CVDC since it was necessary to recreate a color from scratch, this Chrysler Windsor having previously been repainted in a now unusual color.
We can then admire the alignments of the games between the elements which are now correct, which was not always the case for the time.
We are delighted with this project, and we have made a customer very happy with his Chrysler!
